Good to be back in Jag land. I have recently converted my 1997 x300 to an XJR and will be posing a few questions all you experts out there.
It is great to see Jaguar are back on top in the luxury car market. I went to see the new XJ last week and it is even more beautiful in the flesh than any pictures can portray.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules.
Be patient and enjoy the site.

Hi Guys. Yes I have indeed converted my 1997 XJ6 to a supercharged XJR. I had more than a little help in the form of my friend who is a Land Rover master tech and a Jaguar tech (of 25 years) before that. We completely rebuilt the engine (rod bearings/rings/overhaul of head including skimming etc).
The downer car is a 1995 XJR. The biggest thing that has caught me out is the subtle differences in the electrics, specifically the plugs on the harnesses. We changed the wiring harnesses and ECU's for the transmission and engine. The replacement transmission harness has four plugs that meet the main harness below the center console glove box. One of the plugs is the same on both cars(male to female) but Jag changed the other three between the years. I have now have before me the task of soldering in the three plugs and associated wires, all 56 of them. Fortunately jag used the same color coding on the wiring between the years so it is not as bad as it sounds. I do have an extra wire from the XJ6 harness that there is not an equivalent to on the XJR (green and black) but my friend is looking for a wiring diagram so we can work out what it does. I am looking forward to starting her up but cannot do so until the wiring is sorted out as they control the console/ignition. Great joy.
