Hello from Holland! X-type engine Rattle
Good evening,
my name is Bastiaan Marcelis and i am from Holland.
I am Married to my wife Laura, she is the best.
I very recently bougt a Jaguar X-type 3.0 V6 from 2002 wit 140000kms on it.
And it rattles when i press the throttle and release it.
idle the engine is very quiet, runs great.
when i press the gass and rev it to 3000-4000 rpm the engine makes a rattling sound. not a knocking sound.
when i release the pedal the sound dissapears and the engine will run guiet again.
vVrOOEmm-----ngkRRrrr like so<---
please someone tell me where i have to look for finding the noise.
engine noise only when revving.
Oil is black/Brown- no foam when tapped looks good.
no shavings in the oilpan. no rod bearing wear.
Chain looks ok, no vissible wear and tight enough? i dont know.
1 piston head looks more black/wet then the other 5.
sparkplugs look bit worn. not damaged.
please tell me where too look, ideas are very welcome.

Welcome to the forum Bastiaan,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the X-Type forum with this question so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
You can also visit the Europe Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/europe-42/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
