Default Hello from Indiana

Just purchased a 2002 x-type with R package...I guess that means it's a sport model. It was a CA car previously owned in Beverly Hills (googled PO's address). I hope it likes it's new rural home. It's sharing the garage with a Land Rover, so I seem to be starting a British car collection. I do most of my own wrenching, so I joined this forum for the tech info. Thanks in advance.

It really does have the R emblem on it. That is how I found the forum. I was trying to find some info on the car, because it seemed wrong to me too. Once I get the right to post some pics, I will. I don't know if this is something that is aftermarket that the PO did or what. But, the car has the R emblem on the back, the R brake calipers, the chrome is blacked out to match the paint, optional factory wheels, and a really cool Jaguar marking over the glove compartment on the wood. Like I said, the car came from Beverly Hills, so maybe it's just some custom job. I don't know. I think I'll change my sig to list it as a sport just so people don't think I'm crazy.

I'm sorry but it's just addeed badges...if it is an '02 Sport, you will have a rear spoiler, body color matching bumper blades and grill surround, and the interior should have gray birds eye maple for wood. Serial number should have a "53" in the 6th and 7th digit.

Default You guys are right

As I suspected from the start, you guys are right. It is a sport model, thanks for the VIN info. However, The wood has been changed to the brown. I wonder why someone would go to this trouble and expense to change this? Oh well, I guess people like what they like. I'll try and post the pics now. Thanks for the earlier access Jim.
