Default Hello JF! About to get my first Jag.

I should be finishing up the paperwork for a 2008 XKR Portfolio Coupe today. I was going to fly out to pick it up in California and drive it home to Dallas (after a little time in LA and a stop in Vegas of course), but crazy Californina laws threw a monkey wrench into the works.

What I was told is that since I am not going to pay Californina sales tax that the car would have to be delivered to me at the state line where a notary would sign off on the paperwork.

I think it is less hassle to just have them put it on a truck.

Can't wait for it to arrive.

Gary

No financial crisis, the great state of Texas has treated us pretty well as far as the recession goes. I bought my current vehicle (Jeep Grand Cherokee with the Hemi & 12 MPG) for a steal two years ago when gas was $4 a gallon. I am hoping to sell it once the cat gets here for as much or more than I paid!

Welcome to the site. Looks like California wanted you to make a roundtrip roadtrip to Vegas. Enjoy!

Well, I just signed up here. This is actually my second Jag (the first was mine for a couple of days). I got it, and it doesn't run, shop said it was the timing chain(s). So I am embarking on the adventure of changing them out myself, but I am stuck at the harmonic balancer center bolt.
Anybody got an idea about how to keep the crank from turning when I get an elephant to stand on the breaker bar (386 Nm force = about 514 ft-lbs of torque)?

Default great!

I don't think that california sales tax is payable unless you live here or the seller has a presence in your home state. There may be an argument that you have a pay a use tax, but you're not using it much here if you're just driving it home.

Anyway, post some pics!
