Default Hello from Lake Zurich in Switzerland

Hi, this is Martin from Switzerland.

Last year I got hold of an 3.2L XJ Executive V8 (2001) with 130.000km mileage from first hand.

I am very pleased to see documents provided here documenting the different Jaguars!

kind regards
Martin

Tom,

You need a Swiss Motorway Vignette which can be purchased in advance on the internet or at the border.

I ordered one online through:

Vignette

This was cheaper than buying it at the border and saved delay.

Swiss Border Guards are the most pedantic in Europe and consider the positioning of this sticker on the windscreen to be considerably higher priority than terrorism or drug smuggling!

Default Info Switzerland for Tom Barlow

Thank you for your warm welcome and your hints!

@ Tom Barlow:
Tom, as GGG already stated, the Vignette can be bough online, about 100 miles before the border at german or french gas stations via credit card or directly at the customs ( they check their presence and push you to buy one, but I'd suppose you need swiss money).

Why I still reply:

Switzerland controls its 120 km/h and 50km/h speed limit via speed cameras. Heavily. Especially in Basel and Zurich.

The Swiss almost never exceed the 120km/h for more than 20km/h,.. on the open motorway.

Never in tunnels: Under NO condition exceed the stated limit.
Every tunnel contains at least one speed camera.

So.. better move to "cruising mode": Enjoy the countryside, the cheese, chocolate and the mountains!

Default Swiss visit

Martin,
Thanks for all the advice, now got the vignette thing for my car £32. Will have to slow down as I cross the boarder, really looking forward to this holiday away from the sea for a change as I wake up to it every day.
Best regards
Tom
