Default Hello from Minneapolis

Hello there. I have been a Jag enthusiast all of my life having been brought up in North Wales. Eventually got the chance to own one of my dream cars (1998 XJR) while working at a Ford Assembly Plant in Minnesota. Only had the car for around 12 months when they announced the closure of the plant and of course had to sell it to tighten up my finances for the impending redundancy I was about to face. I think I had a tear in my eye when I handed the keys over. I remember thinking to myself that my dream was over.

Well, that was 6 years ago. Fast forward to this week. As I commute 100 miles a day, I go through vehicles pretty quickly. This week I decided it was time to purchase a "sensible car" for getting back and forth to work. As I was strumming through the local ads I came across a 2006 XJ8 with very low miles on it. I told my wife about it and told her that I may go and test drive it on my way home from work the following day.
When I called the dealership the following afternoon, they told me it had been sold that day, and as it was the only XJ I could find for sale in the Twin Cities area, I was deflated. I called the wife and told her that I was coming home.

When I arrived at home, I opened the garage door only to see my wife standing there with a bow tied to the very same Jag that I had wanted to test drive. She had taken the day off and gone over and bought it for me . What an amazing wife I have.

I am still in shock and right now it is like living the same dream twice. The 2006 seems like a huge upgrade so far to the 1998 I had although a little less power of course.

Anyway, I just wanted to say Hi and share my story with other Jag enthusiasts.

Welcome Jaserob, and greetings from the Midwest Region. What a GREAT story. Thank you for sharing. This car will certainly ease the burden of the daily commute. It will likely even make it the best part of your day.

Cheers!
Scott

Welcome aboard Jaserob. Lots of great info and advise to be found here. There are some indie shops around the cities that work on Jags if needed. I think most issues have been covered at least once so be sure and do a search first. You will probably find the answer.

Good luck.
