Default Hello - New Member - 2000 S-Type

Hello everyone - I joined the forum because I love Jaguars and to help my husband with the maintenance of our 2000 S-Type. We recently attended the British car show in Dixon, California, had a great time and saw some really pretty Jaguars there.

I am interested in owning an XJS and possibly even an XJS with a V-12 but would like to do more research on those. My husband used to have an XJ-6, year 1986, and still misses it so we may look for one of those instead.

I grew up in a car family; my dad had a 1966 Barracuda Formula S and helped my brother buy and maintain a Triumph TR4A and shared a Jaguar XK120 MC year 1954. My brother also had a 1967 Plymouth GTX 440 and later a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, also with a 440. We also had various VWs hanging around.

My husband's dad had an XK 150 when my husband was growing up and his dad also had a couple of XJ-6s from the 1990s.

We really enjoy the car hobby and Jaguars in particular.

It is nice to meet you all.

Donna, 2000 S-Type

Welcome Donna.

That list is like mine.

The V12 is awesome, and becomes a one way street, as the smitten bug firmly takes hold.

The backside is the state of nearly all of them now, some are VERY sad, and that is due to age, slack maintaning, dont care attitude, etc etc, so I will stop before I say something offensive.

Ours have taken us twice around this island we live on, at about 20000kms each time, with no mishaps at all.

As you mentioned, do ypur homework, look at, and drive, as many versions as you can before taking the leap.

Thank you Grant. Pleased to meet you. I can't wait to check out XJS V-12s; there are usually several on Craigslist around here.

Thank you Norri. I will be using the S-Type forum to ask about heat and a/c problems. Knock on wood, other than that, no issues at this time. Thanks again.

Welcome to the forum Donna,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Follow Norri's link in post #3 to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

The XJS forum XJS - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum has all the advice needed on what to look out for when considering a V12.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham
