Hello Forum Members , Just bought my second jaguar two months ago-1999 vanden plas 95000 miles.Had a 1967 xke yellow convertible many moons ago when I was 19 in 1975,not much money for repairs/upkeep back then, unfortunately had to sell car 9 months later,always regretted it, especially now. New vanden Plas was a two owner car, seems to have been garaged from new,showroom condition, no sunfade-wood, leather,paint perfect .Looked for a1998-2003 vanden plas for two years, many of these jags in very good condition seem to be located down south, west palm beach florida especially .Was willing to fly down-drive back,I live in Westchester ny, and during my search I found this 99 vanden plas in of all places, DA BRONX NYC at dealer, he was asking $5995.00, as I had researched these vehicles on this forum, and had learned of problems common to this model, I was able to make a good deal for cash,always seems to work in the Bronx! I have taken the car on two 150 mile runs, everything seems to be fine-handling,shifting,temperature-rock steady,even when pushed with a/c on.No lights on dash,no problems whatsoever so far-I know-I know, you guys aint here for nothing! However car does have a few problems I refered to earlier; of which I learned of on these forums,Thank You all. I have three things I need to address if anyone has dealt with them. 1. Car seems to have been maintained by jaguar, if you go in for an oil change,will they be able/willing to tell-give? you cars service history to determine whether timing chains have been upgraded? I have opened hood, listened at cold start,hear nothing bad/unusal/rattling.

Lucky to find a Jaguar with such good history and close to home is definitely a bonus!

Jaguar Dealers in the UK are usually happy to give out warranty and upgrade info. I don't expect US Dealers to be different so you should be able to verify if the tensioners have been done.

Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Thank You Graham, I am new to jags and computers, I think I was able to edit signature but not 100% sure. Also in my first post/introduction to forum, in my request for advice /help I seem to have run out of room, may I continue in second post, is this proper procedure .

 

No need to continue in a second post. There's no limit set on the length of your Intro and you can go back and add to it by using the Edit button at the bottom right (arrowed in red in the screen shot below - click on it to enlarge the image) :



I see you've put your eMail address in your Signature. Most of us just put vehicle details there because Internet web crawlers pick up on eMail addresses like this and you could end up with loads of spam in your Inbox.
