Hello, new old Jaguar owner
Picking up a new to me 1981 Jaguar XJ6 4.2 with 117,000 miles this coming Saturday. It has been sitting since 2011. The previous owner passed away and I'm buying it from his widow. I looked at it and it's very clean. I popped the fuel caps and the fuel is tarnished. The son actually started it and drove it around the neighborhood. It is running rough and pretty sure its the old gas. I will be trailering it home as to not damage anything with bad fuel. I plan on doing a major tune up and removing the fuel tanks to flush them out. I have been restoring and building street rods since 1992 but this is my first import. I'm not afraid to learn something new and not afraid to get dirty. I want to keep this classic original but will drive it regularly. One of my older hot rod mentors had one when I was shadowing him at his restoration shop as a teenager. I always loved that car. He passed away a few years ago but I learned a lot from him. This XJ6 reminds me of him so it will be dear to my heart.

Welcome to the forum HAFROD,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XJ6 Series I, II & III tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA Southwest Region forum by following this link US Southwest: AZ TX NM OK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
