Hello from a new XF owner
Hello, just recently switched from long standing ownership of all things German. Had Audi A6's and Merc's (E-Class) up to now. Wanted something different and always had a hankering for a Jaguar but thought many of the models were not for me. Anyway, the XF began to catch my eye as I was looking around after a new vehicle to replace my existing one and it was a tough call between the great looking new XJ or the (also) great looking XF. In the end I plumped for the XF and the only remaining decision was Petrol or Diesel.....
Been a petrolhead for a long time, love the sound of a sweet 6-cylinder/9-cylinder engine but alas the price of Petrol these days, my head swung me towards diesel. All my concerns about missing performance, pull, etc were gone the minute I test drove the 3.0DS. Fantastic torque, amazing standing starts when needed but the motorway overtaking ability is just breathtaking.
This car really has the best of both worlds as far as I'm concerned - excellent comfortable, relaxing motoring when you let it shift itself and engaging driving with sporty feeling when you pull the wheel mounted paddles.
I'm really pleased with the car and look forward to getting into it again, every time I get out of it ;-)
A couple of gripes so far but nothing really to dampen my enthusiasm for the car that can't be taken car of by the dealer....
1) The ride on the 20" Senta alloys is a little firm but not in any way bone shattering. It's also a little harsh to judge the firmness of the ride given the appalling state of british roads these days....
2) Got an annoying rattle that's developed in the rear, nearside passenger door that looks like a little bit loose fitting door trim. Will be stopping by the dealership to get it taken care off, don't anticipate a problem (finger crossed).
3) Last thing really is the MPG (for combined) is not really near the advertised numbers, of 40-ish, in practical terms I'm getting 33mpg on average on a combined cycle of 50/50 motorway/city driving. On the motorway on a cruise for about 60 miles I'm getting 42mpg though. Not really to fussed about this as all the overtaking power comes at a price but it's worth it ;-)

Newbie - and I don't even own her yet!
Hi all... just put a deposit on a 2012 XF (was a dealer loaner). Has 4,800 miles. Silver over black. Should have her next week and then I will start posting pics! Although, I guess I have to post 5 times before I can post pics?? I'm already considering the XF aluminum pedals....
Then wheels and a slightly lowered suspension....
