Hello all, I have a 2006 S-type, base, in quartz with the two-tone brown/tan/cream (VIN doesn't advise color name?). It belonged first to my wife's brother on the west coast, and then to their father for the last 3-4 months of his life.. My Father in-law was on the east coast, and so the car fell to me. The car had not yet endured a Boston winter...and so I drove the car here to Raleigh a few weeks ago. 26.6 mpg at 80mph from the 120k 3.0.

Bumper to bumper review by my regular mechanic and a clean bill of health save a few items:
FAULT: *Brake Assist Fault lamp is showing. Mechanic unable to clear. I've read the threads here to no avail. I'll post to S-Type tech.
FAIL: Boot button above rear number plate is not working, nor is the dash located boot button (opens by keyfob).
FAIL: Clear Coat has failed miserably, so not sure what to do going forward.
FAIL: Wheels are good, but the coating has failed. Local guy will dip / powder for $170 a wheel.

Thanks Jim. I was in your area at Taren Point for work a few months ago.. MEL last month and then Avalon in March. Always the best time.

I'm scouring these pages for the Brake Assist Failure lamp issue/code/reset. My brother in law, former owner of the S-type
advises no fault lamp until he'd changed to a new battery. Hmmm.

Kev, my sister lives near Taren Point which is a nice spot south of Sydney. Big difference to Avalon!
