Hello from Shane & Clara 1988 XJSC
Hello all. My Wife Clara and I are in our late 40's and from Parkersburg, West Virginia and just got a 1988 XJSC. The car runs great but has been through some very poor owners over the last few years. I get quite stupid when it comes to the British cars. In my 20's I was into the Triumph Spitfires. I sold it and added some more for my first 1985 XJ6. Internet was mostly dial-up then so there was a lack of information for new Jag owners. I wound up burning a hole through the head the size of a quarter. That car was plagued with problems from the day I got it. The same held true of my first marriage at the time. The car had to go to the salvage yard and i kicked the wife to the used ride lot.
Now comes the XJSC. I found it when i was out reading water meters in an unlikely neighborhood. I offered to help him fix it up but he really liked my van and we made a partial trade. Van & cash for the Jag. The only thing wrong he stated, was that the coolant tank was rotten out and the battery was flat. The car had been setting outdoors for a year and a half.
Typical story for British cars for sale .... "Only needs" translates loosely to "Complete rebuild"..... Finally got her home, no brake lights, no turn signals, no horn, heating up, low on every fluid, no wipers ... I was starting to get scared. Fortunately after all day Saturday of tinkering and cleaning I have most of my systems operational. Still runs 3/4 on the temp gauge but no higher. The wiper motor is completely shot though.
Hope to find some experienced help and parts hook-ups to keep her on the road.

Oh my Goodness, if only it was RED!!
You'll like the XJS section, Shane! All of us in here are a little nutz (required to own Classic British motor iron), but those guys are Out There. That being said, there isn't a question you could possibly ask about your car that one (or several) of them can't answer.
Welcome from ElinorB.
