Default Hello, Soon to be new XJ owner?

Hey guys! I've been spying at this forum for a while now, and decided to make an account now so I can get some of your knowledge. As time went by i started to really think about buying a CPO 11' XJ. Currently i own a 07' Lexus LS460 fully loaded. I live in New York, Queens area to be exact. The Lexus is quite reliable and nice car but, i need a change in my life. So the question is. How has your relationship been with the big kitty? Is there anything specific i should look for when purchasing one? How about the reliability? Ive been doing a fair amount of research, and most of the sites I looked at have been a bit harsh on the car. So hopefully "fingers crossed" this future XJ owner would like to ask current owners; How much do you love the car?
P.S. If i buy the car Im planing to keep it for a few years.

In advance thank you so much for the feed back!

Lukas

Welcome, Lukas, ElinorB here.
My relationship with my kitty is one of co-dependance. It's true these cars take a lot of flak (some of it well deserved) and owning one isn't for everyone. For example, if you've never worked on your car, if you always sent it out, or if you always leased a car, a Jaguar may not be the car for you.

This will be a Hands-On relationship. You can't treat these cars like a Sawz-All; leaving it in the garage for months at a time with little thought, and then suddenly, with no preparation, expect them to work as designed for hours/days at a time. They need a caring owner who listens to them when they talk. It's like any relationship, you get out of it what you put into it. They are as close to living things as a machine can be.

Nix (that's her name) tells me where she hurts and if I pay attention and care for that issue right away she doesn't let me down. I keep her maintained and repaired and she takes me wherever I want to go.

I never owned a Jaguar before September 2013, but after a mere 7 months of reversing Years of neglect and deferred maintenance I know this car like no other I've ever owned! I can't imagine life without her. Not only that, my friends can't imagine me without her! We were 'made for each other' as they say. She only had to wait for 38 years for me to come along and give her the attention she deserves.
