hello from sunny scotland
I'm picking up a 54 plate x-type 2.5 S estate at 4pm tomorrow .
was able to covince the mrs that it would be a huge saving in fuel compared to what i traded in. A V6 shogun and i was lucky if i could get 20mpg on a long run, it mostly averaged about 15 (stainless straight through exhaust and heavy right boot)
note to self...... don't buy a loud pipe for the Jag
now off to do some reading

@Jester
If Scotland was so sunny I wouldn't have left it 14 years ago. It's murder living out here in freezing, rainy California. No, hang on, I've got that wrong somehow.... :-)
Anyway, welcome to Jaguar ownership. I take my hat off to anyone who can afford to run one in the UK these days. I had to wait till I came to the US before I could afford to run my first Jag.
I do like to think of Scotland every now and again..... my license plate helps me a little in that respect !
Again, welcome, hope you get along well with the X type

nice plate Sarc
is that the lowland or mountain haggiss on your plate
The Jag should do nearly twice as much MPG as the shogun (if im reasonably careful) and to be honest i can run something with a V6 petrol engine as i dont need it to commute, i have the works van for that
and when we go on holiday touring its by bike. upshot is i only do about 5 - 6000 miles a year

Welcome to the forum Jester,
Follow Norri's link to the X-Type section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the forum.
