Hey all, an 04 or an 01 XJR recommendations?
Hey all! The past few weeks I've been reading a lot about Jaguars and especially the XJ series.
My question is probably half emotional, half practical, and maybe, well, a third philosophical...
I want to get an XJR, and my options are basically good condition year 2000 +- 2 years or get an 04 from a dealer.
I actually think that I like the look of a 1999 more than an 04, but I appreciate very much the mechanical upgrades/fixes for the 04. Any opinions? I want this to be a long term car. I can do basic maintenance and component replacement, like tensioners etc.
Thanks!

Welcome to the forum Elvin,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
You'll find each model has big support from members here. Once you've decided which design your prefer, condition and service history are even more important than age.
Follow this link XJ ( X308 ) XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum for help, advice and information on the earlier steel bodied model and this one https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...j6-xj8-xjr-28/ to the X351 for the later aluminium bodied model. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
You can also visit the USA Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

What do I know.. It's my 1st day here too. In my research I found to stay 2000 or newer.. As ford went in and straighten them out.. I have 2 01's and both have been good cars. Except for a rod knock that blames the oil pump or my 21 year old kid, ( haha) put 1 out of commission, but I turned around and got a 02.
