Default Hey all!

Hey there guys and dolls! Total jag noob here. I have just acquired possibly the cheapest jaguar on the planet at a whopping $200 usd. I've always wanted a jag, but never could find one within my price range (don't laugh at me, I'm a broke single mom. lol) so anyway... I've wanted a project car for quite a while now, i love cars to the point that I even went to Nashville auto diesel college, but, was not able to find a job in the rural southeast USA because, well... the specific area i am in the men seem to think women can't do things, and that we should be barefoot and pregnant in the kitchen making them sammiches. Lol

Anyway, so i found my black beauty, she's an 03 x type Saloon jt2 awd according to the jaguar recall vin search. She's got the 2.5 v6, the guy said she's twin turbo, but i haven't checked that deeply yet. I am set to take delivery this weekend. I have the title, key and bill of sale in hand.

Yay!

First pic of my girl.

Welcome to the Forums.
Well done on the Jag, NO turbo's on that model, unless aftermarket, and then I doubt there is room for 2.

I have the 2.1 V6, and it thunders along just nicely, so the 2.5 will be just fine.

Good luck.

thanks!

That's kinda what i thought... but even though i have loved jags since i was a tot... i wasn't sure on which models were turbo or etc. Lol i honestly don't know a lot about them.

But I'm going to be posting as i get into her and start making progress. The Main thing I'm worried about first off is that pesky limp mode, and getting her running right.

Hello, Holly,
Congratulations on your First Jaguar Project Car!!
No laughing from me! Except for the Single Mom part (and the fact I grew up on a farm in Montana) our stories are very similar.

Sexism is alive and well, Flourishing in fact, even in this "Enlightened" age, and may even be getting worse.
I was treated well in college (it was the Law) I was even made Professor's Assistant in the auto shop in my 2nd year, but when it came to finding a job, as you discovered, Our gender is not considered "properly equipped" to twirl wrenches in the Male Dominated world of most Repair Shops.

They're intrigued with us as Decorative Objects and the idea we might know a 7/16" socket from a 10mm end wrench, but usually not brave enough to give us a chance doing anything real.

Their Loss.

You won't find those attitudes here. These forums seem to be built on Mutual Respect. Even if some don't agree with you, they Respect your right to think and do what you want. You'll find Tons of help in the X-type section.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome along, nowt wrong with a female car enthusiast, just like female biker chicks, in my opinion, they make the world go around I met my wife after she posted a picture of herself in front of her project car in a car group I was in 20 years ago. She had bought a beat up Gen 6 Celica, sourced a rare bodykit from Japan and set about restoring the bits of the car that were broken, installing and painting said bodykit and then jamming as much sound system into the car as she could, I was needless to say desperate to meet this woman from that moment . Our daughter is very similar, she rides motorbikes as well as driving and is always keen to get her hands oily and her knees scraped, to the point that these days if she's at home and a mechanical job needs doing on one of the vehicles, she tends to do it instead of me now.

That's Awesome! I love seeing especially the younger girls getting into both cars and bikes. Lol
