hey hey from Aus
Hi All,
New to the forum and Jaguar ownership. I'm mainly a Subaru guy, have 3 of them currently and have owned quite a few over the years, I do a bit of track events and motorkhana in them. Have had a mild interest in Jags for quite sometime but never in the place add one to the inventory until now. I've just bought a 1997 Daimler Double Six, well, because V12. In the future, I wouldn't mind adding an X300/308 XJR and maaaaybe manual swapping it, or maybe trying an XKR and going down the same road as the guys off drivetribe right now, but we'll see.
Even though I've just bought the Daimler, I won't get to see it for a while yet as it's coming on a ship from Nippon and will need to sort out certification/engineering once it arrives etc. But before it gets here I've been doing a fair bit of reading, trying to arm myself for what might be ahead.
Cheers - Craig

Welcome to the forums Craig,
Good to have you with us.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj12-x305-57/ to the X305 forum for help, advice and information. As the V12 was low volume production, the X300 forum will be useful for everything apart from the powertrain. For this, the XJS forum is where the knowledge and knowledgeable are to be found. You can also use the Australia - New South Wales / ACT Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/a...-wales-act-93/ to find other members in your region.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.

Hi all, thanks for such a warm welcome. Thanks for helping point me in the right direction too for the related forums to my car.
Not sure which forum to ask this in, so will just ask here for now...
In order to import my vehicle I had to provide a month/year build date to gain government import approval. Long story short, I ended up paying Jaguar heritage trust 30 (or was it 35?) pounds for a research inquiry asking for build date confirmation and spec list of the vehicle I bought. From reading the website my fee should cover roughly an hours worth of their time. They misinterpreted my initial question as asking for service history and the build date and replied back with just the build date. I don't know if there was any other method of confirming the build date, but ringing jaguar in Australia proved fruitless.
Anyway, since I felt I was entitled to an hours worth of "research" for my fee, I replied back to JHT asking again for a spec list on my vehicle. They replied back trying to sell me a printed and "embossed" spec sheet for another fee. I explained that I didn't need a printed sheet, can they just email me the specs. I got some long winded side story that they just can't look it up on a computer and send it to me. Am I that far off to think that if they had to go access my vehicles information to send me the build date, they could have typed in the specs to begin with?
Coming from Subaru ownership, I can pretty much plug any Subaru vin into the Web and get a the tech specs, factory options for any model, which just doesn't seem to be the case here.
What's everyone's experience JHT and Jaguar when trying to access this sort of info?

Modern Jaguar records are all digital with specifications available through TOPIx (the dealer portal) but anything of the X308 and earlier era is now in the hands of JDHT.
JDHT used to be very helpful with enquiries like yours but in recent years their main objective has been to maximise income by selling 'Heritage Certificates'. Several members have reported Jaguar Customer Relations in Coventry will respond to this type of question without charge.
