Hi ... Black XK8
Hi
Just joined and hoping for some help and advice, Ive already done a fair few things to my XK8 since buying 2 months ago. so will put pics up soon
Also
I have one of the first XK8s built on 30th May 1996 with the engine number 1186. Not sure if this adds value or not to my future classic, but must be one of the first ones sold in the UK.
Has anyone seen ones earlier than 1186?

Welcome to the forum blackjaguarxk8,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've already found your way to the XK8/XKR forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link UK & Eire - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

XK8 Early VINs
Hi blackjaguarxk8,
Just wondered how you got on with your search for early XK8 cars.
If it's of any help, there is a member with VIN 001114 built 13th May 96 with 130,000 miles.
I have VIN 001213 built 13th June 96 with 32,000 miles.
Jaguar Heritage says mine was used as a Press Car, what about yours?
Maths:
001114 to 001186 (72 built in 17 days).
001186 to 001213 (27 built in 14 days).

I think there were 111 cars built early on, to be used as demonstration and promotion/press cars.
The first true production one for customer market was built 4th June 1996. I've been trying to get the VIN number, with no luck.
We bought the car straight from Jaguar Cars Ltd. (not through a dealer) way back in August 1996. Since it was used as a press car, it has lots of extras on, that did not become standard until later.
My Heritage certificate says 'Used as a Press Car'. The original VRN was P728 FRP which is two off one seen on a 1996 road test video on YouTube.
Since yours is earlier than mine, it is likely it falls under the same category.
It would be good to see a photo - what's the condition, any major work done?
I've had to do quite a bit on mine recently - but now purring nicely.

Finally got around to getting a certificate from Jaguar Heritage which said my XK8 is Black with black interior. useless bit of paper. No record of original owner and was sold by Jaguar Cars Ltd.
My car is also fully loaded with every possible extra. slightly disappointed that jaguar heritage charged me £45 for that.
