Hi from England
Hi everyone, I have just bought a pre-owned S-type 2.5 V6 SE and its my first Jaguar although I have driven XK8s and XKRs around Millbrook proving ground courtesy of Evan Halshaw.
I like the brand and after many years with BMW as my preferred choice, this time I chose a Jaguar. The main reason for this is the need for comfort because my lovely little lady and I have some quite nasty pelvic and spinal injuries due to seperate bad bike smashes many years ago.
Fast bikes are my main pleasure and although I have had 5 Suzuki Hayabusa's, several GSXR's, GPZs and ZZR's nowadays I have a retro 4 cylinder bike where I sit upright. I am not into Hogs, choppers or cruisers.
We (my gf and I) do less than 7000 miles a year by car and we like to travel in comfort with a bit of class. I don't think anything carries the same presence and respect on the road as the Jaguar. My S-type has the classic features of the older models but its bang up to date in many other ways.
More complex and more technical is rarely better.
Don't ask me about my E60 BMW 545 V8 it could go on for days.
I opted for the 2.5 V6 looking for better economy and because I dont need the go fast and its far safer on the roads to drive in sich a manner that people can easily see you and respond accordingly.
I do my own work on bikes and only some on cars due to my limited mobility. I don't crawl around on the floor under the car or in the engine bay quite as well !
I have an automatic because my left lef got mashed and I have £12k worth of custom made titanium prosthetics in there.
So I love the technical stuff and I will need some support just because I don't know Jaguars. My last major project was a supercharged Hayabusa which I slammed and stretched for stability and also for drag strip use. Kept it real at 240 rwhp from a Rotrex blower and some engine work.
I am very fortunate to live not very far from Silverstone Circuit and Santa Pod race track. I like both circuit racing and drag racing. If you haven't seen them? Top feulers are something everyone should see once in their lives. I have good bike mates in the US and EU who I talk to most weeks online and sometimes they come over here to race when we meet.
At 57 years old and an ex professional in construction project management and design managament I am happy taking a back seat in life because I had to. I do not miss the stress !!! I've had a full and colourful life but had my wings clipped badly in 2001 by a hit and run car driver.
Not a victim and never will be.
