Default Hi everyone

I am the not so proud owner of a X-type which has given me problems ever since I bought it.
At the moment I have stripped our the rear cv joint on my 2002 3.0 L petrol V6 awd. I managed to remove the cv joint on the drive but when it came to rebuilding, I gave problems fitting the circlip to the drive shaft, which is still in situe. I have been told the shaft has to be removed, is this true and if so, how do I do it?
