Default Hi from Glasgow

Just a quick 'Hi' (and I'll post a few photos later)

Years ago I had an X300 3.2 XJ, and loved it, but ended up selling it when petrol prices began to shoot through the roof. Bought a Civic, and eventually, once I realised how much I hated it, gave up and bought the XK8 I'd always actually wanted.

The kids are big enough that the need to get pushchairs etc is gone, and frankly as they're both now teenagers the requirement to put them in the back of the car is unusual.

Anyway, long story short - Silver XK8, 4.2, Late 2005 model, with a little shy of 100k miles.

And stupid 20" wheels, which are the reason I joined.... Why do people like these big wheels? I want soft, squishy sidewalls*. It's a cruiser, not a racecar....

*Full disclosure? My other car's a Chrysler 300c. I like big, American boat-type-handling....

Hi there,
A very warm welcome to the forum - and possibly the most friendly bunch of Jaguar fans you are ever likely to find online.
If I could point you in a couple of directions that may be of help to you...
If you press the CP button in the top right of any page here you can create a signature that will appear on every post you make - it would be great if you could do this as it helps other users know what car, year, and equipment level you have so their advice is accurate and of help..
Additionally you will find lots of info, hints, tips and help for your car here: XK8 / XKR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
and for the UK region as a whole: UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
The UK area is quite busy through the year with meets which make for a great excuse for cleaning, polishing and showing off your XK8, and putting faces and cars to names.
If you have any queries or car issues you are very welcome to post in the relevant areas, or pm any of us in the team here.
Welcome to JaguarForums.com and I hope you enjoy your time with us

Welcome to the ReAndyMator,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

I know you've found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the UK Region forum by following this link UK - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in this country.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Incidentally my first Jag was an XJ8 3.2 - absolutely fell for the car but when it failed and had to be replaced, I only lasted a few months with an 'ordinary' car before I *had* to get another Jag - I say if you drive a Jag it ruins you as you can never happily drive a normal car again :-)

Hello, Andy,
Another refrain I read in this section is, "now the kids are older I can have the car I always wanted." Congratulations on yours.

Welcome from ElinorB.
