Default Hi guys, this is how you're not suppose to buy a dependable car.

What's up everyone, Late 2018 I became the owner of a 1990 XJ40? Vanden Plas Majestic.
My 2007 Hyundai Accent GLS broke down and I refused to fix it, for years i hated driving that car I was finished.
The next day i went to a small dealership and saw it parked away back in a corner, WTF is this thing?
I couldn't believe this car was 28 years old, the interior was in perfect condition, A new coat of paint is all it needed.
After a smooth test drive, i sat with the owner signed the papers and it was mine.

Later that evening I installed a new battery, started the engine and S*** got real... At least 4 warning indicators suddenly lit up, the new battery was dying and the needle was bouncing, electrical issues out of nowhere inside and out, I started to see cosmetic flaws I was shocked I missed, and probably the worst part I realized my ignition key wouldn't unlock the trunk or the glove compartment... He didn't have those ones. I can't forget to mention I realized that the odometer with amazing 62,000 miles was a lie it been rolled back and the actual number could easily be 3x more.

I had to work the next day and it was getting late so I rushed to the auto parts store and bought the Hyundai parts and fixed it. I was told to take back the Jag but I refused. The Hyundai broke down again few months later, by then with a little TLC the Jaguars been running fine and it's my main mode of transport.

Came across this forum and had to join after saw threads asking for ways to get into the trunk without a key, fixing electrical issues, and day 1 I learn my cars is not really a XJ6 or XJ12 but actually a XJ40...I think... Love the car, needs a color change though.

Welcome.

Yep, XJ40 it is, and also an XJ6.

Jag used XJ6 from the late '60's to current.

Simple cars once ALL the electrickey gremlins are exorcised.

Have fun.

Hello,
Congratulations on your new Jaguar!
You do realize, don't you, that you've already conquered the hardest part, you got it running "reliably!"
No mean feat for a Jag as obviously unloved and neglected as yours was. Congratulations on that too.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
