Hello Jag Lovers! I am honored to be here to play with you. I'm Amy, a super busy business owner (I am a transformational expert who awakens people into their magnificence so they can shine in life!)
My Mom is the Jag VDP owner and she really wants to sell her VDP. My brother and I are assisting her. (That's her (the car, not Mom) in my sig)
As fellow Jag owners, you can appreciate this was a really tough decision for her, she loves her car! As she is now 82 years young (and still feisty!) she has SHRUNK! This has made the VDP difficult for her to handle, uncomfortable and she doesn't have good visibility driving any more. She has a tough time getting out of the car due to terrible arthritis in her knees. So she was driving the car less and less. Family members would take it for an "exercise drive" a few times a year. This sweet car was languishing in the garage on a trickle charge for it's battery, still being wiped and polished naturally! Mom now drives a big Lexus (it's high!) that she is comfortable in.
A car like this needs be driven and loved. Maybe even shown. It's criminal to let it sit and rot in the garage.
So I came here in hope of finding some guidance on how to match this beautiful car up with a new loving owner. I have it listed on Craigslist, but I'm not so sure that is the best place to find someone who recognizes the gem that this car is. I want Mom to feel that her beloved Jag is in good hands with someone who will love and appreciate her as Mom has.
I sincerely appreciate any ideas, suggestions, thoughts sent my way.
(I really hope i can do TEN posts in 3 days on here! I am swamped with work and clients... I will do my best! I'm already going 3 nights without sleep a week...)

Thank you! Thank you Jim! I so appreciate that! Wow! I haven't left yet.. but I have to, my inbox is out of hand and I need sleep.
I will return to this thread tomorrow and follow both yours and Graham's advice on how to post a Classified. Thank you for the links - I would not have found these areas without them.
I will put something up in the classifieds area and the section you suggested (Jim). I will read Graham's instruction post and do as it suggests.
I got the adding a signature picture and avatar done. That was easy! You should (i hope!) be able to see my avatar and sig picture, they are both the car.
I can't express my gratitude enough for your help!

My brother is telling me the '88 Jag VDP is an XJ6. I think he's guessing, he admits he doesn't know. Can you tell by looking at it? I can include a larger image below. Is it an 88 VDP XJ40 or 88 VDP XJ6 OR were they used interchangeably? The images online all look too similar to me.
Trust me my Mom doesn't know, she just knows it's a Jaguar Vanden Plas. She'd have to dig out the manual (which is somewhere I'm sure).
Can you tell by looking at the car? Huge gratitude for your help!

Amy,
The term XJ6 was applied to 5 different models produced between 1968 and 1997
I don't have thumbnails of the XJ6 Series I and XJ6 Series II but here are the other three:
XJ6 (Series III)

XJ6 (XJ40)

XJ6 (X300)

This is why dealers and the forum use the factory build reference numbers (in brackets) to distinguish them.
