Hi, New Jag Owner - Found a Gem!
Hello, so picked up a 1995 xj6 this summer for $1700. I know absolutely no one that owns a jag so no one to compare notes with.
It was a trade in from someone that was buying a BMW and the dealer didn't want to mess with a respray so sold it to me cheap. I think lol.
It has 105k miles, No oil leaks, MPG still falls at 20 normal and 24 on highway. No power loss that I can tell. Trans is still strong.
I think I did OK, Plus I Love the CAR! Wife makes me not drive it very often due to gas prices but I still find a reason to drive it. :-)
Here's the items I've found so far that I need to fix and will be looking for help on:
- Climate control system doesn't want to blow air out of the middle vents, just the windshield and floor. probably the servo is out
- Climate control screen is not lit and cannot be seen in the dark
- Clock LCD screen mostly out
- Has developed a squeal at start up and first 30-120 seconds. Squeal seems to originate from the water pump area which I can see has a little coolant free around it. Coolant leak is slow.
- Disc changer doesn't work very well anymore
- Clear coat is faded, cracking and all but gone on all top surfaces.

Welcome to the forum gradylile66,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I think you did OK at $1700. Coolant on the drive belts often causes squealing on startup. Once they've had coolant on them, only a new belt will get rid of the noise. The other items on your 'to do' list are regular issues and well covered in the tech forum.
Follow Norri's link in post #2 to the X300 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
Enjoy the forums.
