Hi! New member checking in
Hi everyone,
Better late then never I guess. Been on the board for about a month now I guess, think I have read almost the entire XK8 section at this point and have posted a few times but neglected to stop in and say Hi!
Just picked up a 1999 XK8 with 103k on the clock, got a fantastic deal on it (Was the silver convertible with black interior in San Luis Obispo, CA that was on Ebay 3 times before it sold a month ago for anyone that watches that sort of thing). I bought it from Jason at XKs Unlimited, he was using it as a daily driver after buying it from a customer when the cam chains broke so he updated all the tensioners, put in new chains and drove it for 6 months. I do try to do as much stuff to the car on my own to save money but realize my limits on ability, tools, facilities as well as time.
This is my 3rd Jaguar now and the newest one I have ever had. Bought a 96 VDP seven years ago which was a fantastic car that I took from 60k miles to 123k and would still be going strong if some idiot had not run a red light in Pasadena and plowed into me. The XK8 is the replacement for that one. Also had a very nice 1972 E-Type for a few years but had to sell it two years ago to cover some legal bills after a very messy divorce.
Live in Southern California, so the convertible top gets plenty of down-time.
Anyway - I think this is a great forum, extremely good information, easy to use and well laid out.
Regards,
Mark
