Default Hi from NSW

Hi all - been a Jag nut for way too long. Fell in love with Jags, the XJ6 in particular, when I bought a copy of Autocar in 1969 with a liftout for the release of XJ6 at Earls Court. Many, many years later bought a 1974 XJ6 which the local aftermarket Jag guys had converted for their own use to a Holden V8. Drove that around for a while, then added a nice (on the surface) 1978 XJS updated with exterior and exterior trim of a 1984 model. Both are now in "Jaguar Repose", awaiting rebuilds. A couple of years ago I bought a beautiful Regency Red 1974 XJ6, I am third owner only. First owners had it for 30 years, serviced it at the original dealers every year regardless of mileage. sometimes almost nothing. When they gave up driving a retired guy bought it and showered it with love and lots of money, to bring it back to like new, rebuilding mechanicals etc regardless of whether they needed it. He only sold it because, in his 70s, walking past the Ford dealer on the way back to collect his Jag after a service, he saw a new Mustang gleaming in the sun and thought "Why not?"!

I have replaced the exhaust with a beautiful stainless steel one and fixed the master cylinder, recently the aircon stopped working (climate control control was working perfectly)so I am about to get it pressure tested, checked and regassed.

My lovely 1974 XJ6

Great to join the group and look forward to swapping experience and knowledge.
Cheers,
powerd

Thanks Graham for the helpful links (have read the New Members link, all good) and to everyone for the welcome. I will get involved in the NSW/ACT region forum. And although my car above is in beautiful condition I am sure I will both be reporting on/asking for help with various fixes on her over time - she is a 70s Jag after all!

And when I finish building my house, there is also the mammoth task of a body and pain refresh and partial mechanical rebuild of the XJS and then a paint refresh and a little engine tidy of the XJ6 with V8. I will probably be in my 90s by then!

And if anyone is travelling along the Mid-North Coast of NSW hear Port Macquarie, be sure to get in touch - a warm welcome is on offer.

Thanks all.
