Default hi there

im looking at purchasing A 1964 JAGUAR MARK II
3.4 RIGHT HAND DRIVE

i know very little about these cars so any info would be great

here is the write up the seller has done

"Happy 50th Birthday, Big Blue. Now yo punk *** is up for sale, bitch!"
1964 Jaguar MkII Automatic Limousine
"It's got freakin' cigar lighters and cocktail trays!"
This is the blinged up, slutty sister of the model, with cocktail tables in the
back seats, cigar lighters, individual cabin lights, white-wall tyres and chrome
out the ****, plus the metalic silver-blue was considered WOWZA back in the day.
With it's fancy automatic transmission and disc brakes, this was pretty, pretty,
pretty fancy.
The body on this girl is incredibly tidy, with only a couple of small paint
repairs needed to look 100%. While still completely functional after 50 years the
window and door seals really don't look the freshest, so get new ones and put
them in and she'll be the perfect wedding car once more. The interior wood is
gorgeous, the carpet still clean and intact complete, the beautiful old leather
seats are still beautiful old leather seats and the whole thing smells like...
old...
The 3.4 litre 6-cylinder engine purrs and twists with every pulse of the
throttle.
The column shift 4-speed automatic clunks into gear with the reassuring feel that
only a 50 year old transmission can give. You know that bitch is in gear.
The fuel pump has been stripped, cleaned and reassembled.
Alternator also recently stripped and tidied up spic and span.
Rubber transmission mounts could do with a replacing, as they are old of course,
and it would tighten up the shifting for much more smooth transmission movements,
or so I'm told it still drives fine and dandy, but it's something you should just
do because why not?
Anyone with half a brain knows that this bitch is worth a lot and with a little
bit of work would be worth a lot more, and with all the functioning luxurious
accoutrements it would make a fine addition to any classic limousine fleet.
I am only selling it as I have inherited the family Mk1 (the love of which was
the whole reason this car exists) and finally found some brakes for it (damned
sports model), so byebye Big Blue, hello Big Red.

cheers

sam

Welcome to the forum Sam,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Well, I most certainly wouldn't let my daughter date him and the car may be even hotter than described - I can see a UK registration plate under the NZ one.

Rust was always the killer on these beautiful cars. have a look at some of the restoration projects in the
MKI / MKII tech section to see what can be involved in putting a neglected example right.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/mki-mkii-s-type-240-340-daimler-61/ to the
MKI / MKII forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

You can also visit the Australia / New Zealand Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/australia-new-zealand-51/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome, Sam. You see, no Jaguar is just a car.

But "4-speed automatic" would make me ask what they've done, as original was a 3-speed.

Be careful looking for past rust repair to judge it's quality and permanence. Spend some time poking around under the car. Also, the seller is telling you the car needs windscreen seals (front and back), which means water will be leaking in. The seals aren't terribly expensive but windscreen removal is necessary so maybe an autoglass place will do it for you but make sure they know that the rubber seal doestn't keep water out, they have to use sealant, AND, the chrome strips must be put into the new seal BEFORE the window goes into the car.
