Default I am having gauge issues with my 2003 XJ8

Hello,
Nice to be here ! My Jag has gauge issues. Started with the gas gauge not reading accurately. Then lights went out in the gauge windows. They went off and on then strictly off. 2 other gauge lights did the same thing but have now stayed on. The tach is off as it moves up or down about 500 rpms, as is the temp gauge inaccurate. Might I need to change the instrument cluster? Is there a computer code that will come up for this issue if I run a scan? I have read that just replacing the bad bulbs can restore gauge function--kinda like Xmas tree lights-true, not true? How much is the cost to swap the gauge cluster? Any thoughts are of course, greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the forum my1fant,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

2003 was a model change year for the XJ8 from the steel bodied (1997-2003) X308 to the aluminium bodied (2003-2009) X350. Depending upon which model you have, follow this link XJ XJ8 / XJR ( X308 ) - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X308 forum or this link
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-x350-x358-28/ to the X350 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top of each is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link

Enjoy the forums.

Hello,
I'm sorry your gauges are giving you fits. You'll doubtless find answers to that problem in the section where Graham has directed you.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
