Hi everyone. I just bought a 2002 X-Type 3.0 with 150K miles, it was seized from a drug dealer in 2011 by local police and has sat parked till I bought it this week. I just wanted to stop by and read up a bit, and see if anyone has any tips or can point out any common issues with these rides. I have been thru the Land Rover nightmare, hope this Jaguar takes me into dreamland, but prepared for some weird stuff.
I put a new battery in it and it started right up, had 3 codes P1603 P0057 and P1111, well 2 codes really since the one should be there it seems. I think the 1603 was from the dead battery and hope the 0057 was from sitting. They cleared and not returned yet. I got it for $3k, black on black, had dvinci black rims added and windows tinted. I hope some money was put into the motor but not sure yet, will dig this weekend if warm enuf. But seems like I got it on the low end of retail value. And the wife is HAPPY << priceless

Welcome to the forum Zane,
An interesting Intro.
Seized from a drug dealer - first priority this weekend should be cleaning it out very, very thoroughly to avoid problems when you get stopped.
As it's been standing, I'd run it for a while and see if any codes come back. Failing or discharged batteries cause chaos with Jaguar electrics and the recharged/new battery could resolve a lot of issues.
Follow this link X-Type - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X-Type section for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top there is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
You may also like to visit the US Mid Atlantic Region section by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/mid-atlantic-md-va-dc-de-wv-65/ to find other members in your region.
