I have succumbed...
I am a first time Jaguar owner. Second owner to a 2001 carnival red XJ8 base with ivory interior.
I was a BMW guy for 15 years. I sold my beloved E46 with 222K on the clock for this Jag.
It called to me like a siren luring sailors toward the rocks. I have two close friends who drive this curiously anachronistic motorcades and I have always liked them. I fear them but I like the design so much. And they seem abundant in my local junk yard so many happy hours ahead of finding trim parts...
My X308 has had the secondary tensioners, water pump, aluminum housing,fuel pump and lots of other things done. I have the service records. The transmission and diff are the petards waiting to go off I guess... And they will hoist me I'm sure.
I drive 60 miles a day so problems will show up in fairly short order. I am an enthusiastic mechanic and did much of my own work on my E30 and E46. The V8 is a little daunting...
Front shock bushings need to be replaced and I will tackle that first. Cup holders are broken. Of course. I am re dyeing the front seat leather this weekend so that will be fun.
Glad to have this forum to help me. Lord Donnington is my Jag's name. I wanted to call it Christina because it looks like Christina Hendricks floating in a tub of British clotted cream but my wife vetoed that...

Maaaate, change the fuids in the trans and diff, and then do the trans again every 3 months until you get the outcoming fluid the same colour as the stuff going in. Forget this sealed for life junk.
Both my S Types have now had 10 fluid "drop and refills" in just over 2 years of ownership, and that supposedly problematic transmission is soooooo smooth it is kind of scary.
I am a tad biased, but these Jags are STRONG.
Maaaate, change the fuids in the trans and diff, and then do the trans again every 3 months until you get the outcoming fluid the same colour as the stuff going in. Forget this sealed for life junk.

What type of fluid do you guys put in your X308 for:
Oil
Differential
Transmission
Know what... Don't reply. I will search the forum as I am guessing those topics have a ton of informative replies.

We read similar stories in here SO often! A new owner is smitten, or succumbed, as in your case, or otherwise fallen under the spell of one of these Wonderful cars.
Their little quirks are part of the reason I think, because if not for these, they would be soulless; an appliance like a toaster, with the personality to match.

To add vehicle details to your Signature, go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
