Default I'm new and I need advice, please.

Hi, I am Leslie from Brandon, MS. MY Jaguar is a 2006 XK8 Convertible. The color is listed as, if I remember correctly, Midnight Blue, but I say it is Black!

Jaguars were my Mother's thing. This was her 3rd of 4. She decided that she didn't like the color (impulse buy) and wanted her candy apple red, instead. So, around 2009, she GAVE it to me. It had less than 1,000 miles on it. She passed in 2014 and it is THE ONLY THING I have of hers. (Long story, a-hole step brother. Money makes some people cruel! &#128554. So, it is my dearest possession. Now, it has 10,000 miles on it. Yes, I'm a homebody!

So, that's my story. I am so happy to have found this forum! I learned which Engine Coolant to use and how to add it. Now, can y'all please let me know which is the best Windshield Wiper Fluid for my car?

Thanks in advance, and I hope that everyone is staying safe and well.

Hello, Leslie,
With proper care, your mother's legacy to you should last you Many years.
For windshield fluid I just use whatever is on sale at the moment. They're all basically the same anyway.
As a special treat for all my cars, I give them a treatment of Rain-X once in a while, as I feel it keeps the bugs from sticking so bad.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Leslie,

Jaguars are very sensitive to coolant type, more forgiving on oil choice and practically indifferent to screenwash brand. Follow Elinor's advice.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xk8-xkr-x100-17/ to the XK8/XKR forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. You can also use the US Southern Midwest Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/u...rn-midwest-67/ to find other members in your region.

Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.

Enjoy the forums.

Please take your car to reputable Jaguar shop or dealer and have them do engine oil and filter change, transmission oil and filter change, engine coolant, brake fluid, differential fluid and change the battery. A very low miles car still needs all the regular fluid and filter changes. If you only have been adding engine coolant in terms of maintenance you have been neglecting the car.

Last but not least, your 2009 car likely has original tires. Tires last only about 6-8 years and then they start harden. Consider replacing tires or at the very least drive very carefully as these tires have reduced traction due to age.

Default Thanks

Hi, SinF. Thanks for your reply. I have a 2006 XK8 Convertible, not a 2009. She only has 10,000 miles on her. Anytime a warning light comes on or I hear a strange sound, I take her directly to the owner of a shop for European autos. Also, she has had all brand new tires put on her within the last 3 years.

She was my mother's car first. When she was gifted to me, I was unbelievably grateful. What a beautiful vehicle! It is the ONLY thing I have left of my mother since she passed. LITERALLY, the only thing. Jags were my mom's passion and, believe me, the car is well taken care of. The owner of the shop, who has owned jaguars in the past, even told me that he wants to buy it if I ever decide to sell it. Hopefully, he will be waiting a very long time!

I appreciate your advice, and will continue to do all of the things that you recommended.

Default 2006 Jaguar XK8 Convertible Mileage

Hi, y'all. I originally posted that my 2006 XK8 just hit 10,000 miles. I was wrong. After double checking, she only has 8,500 miles on her.

Just out of curiosity, with this low mileage on a 15 year old auto, Jaguar in particular, and only occasional usage, is she in better shape than if she had hundreds of thousands of miles on her. I am not speaking of depreciation value. Maybe mechanically.

I don't know how to phrase my question! She still seems like a new car to me.

If that makes sense to anyone, I would like to hear your opinion.

I've copied your question to XK8/XKR forum for advice from members with the same model. Here's the direct link to it:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...ileage-246048/

Even with extraordinarily low mileage, rubber deteriorates with time so tyres, cooling hoses and suspension bushes will need attention if not replaced recently.
