Default I'm new, and learning, own an X300

Hello all,

I hope I'm doing this correctly - I'm new to any forum!

I live near Brisbane Australia, and I own a 4.0L X300 Sovereign, 1995 build date (1996 compliance), topaz on oatmeal colour, now done approx. 220000 km.

I love my Jag, it is my first one (after many many years of looking forwarding to owning one). I bought it about 7 years ago, and it has served me very well. My only complaint of late is electrical gremlins - many weird things happening electrically - is this common?

Love the look of this Forum web site, and it has really helped me a few times, and I look forward to getting into it more, and hopefully being of help to others.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum Noddy,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

Jaguars are very sensitive to battery condition. I'd start there and eliminate it as a possible cause before going looking for further trouble.

Follow this link XJ X300 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to the X300 forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the Australia - Queensland Region forum by following this link Australia - Queensland - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.

Graham

Welcome.

The gremlins in an Ausssie X300 are usually battery related. If the age of the battery is unknown, or getting on a bit, a new battery will mostly sort those gremlins.

Hello Graham,
Thank you for the lovely welcome, and useful advice.

Thanks especially for the advice about battery condition, mine is getting a bit old. I looked at the X300 forum and found an answer to one of my problems - Air Bag warning, and radio staying on with car off (although the radio only works intermittently, the volume is all over the place, and sometimes the volume control works in reverse!). I will look at the forum for some other issues, some interesting ones I have are:
* steering wheel often goes up and down on it's own for about 15-30 seconds when you get in and out of the car;
* interior and door lights mostly don't come on or come on very dimly;
* can't adjust drivers seat properly, moves in one direction then won't move back;
* seat memory stopped working;
* electric boot release and aerial stopped working for a couple of years (have been working again now for about a year);
* clock sometimes can be read, mostly can't be (I believe this is very common);
I think that is it.

Have hopefully now put the information correctly in my signature.
Will certainly look at my local area link.

Thanks again so much for all your efforts, which look to be very considerable!
Cheers!

Hello o1xjr Clarke,

Thanks so much for the local links, I will certainly look at them.

I am really disappointed to hear I just missed the Ballina meet - I would have definitely gone to that, it is not for from me. At the moment I am two-and-a-half hours from Brisbane.
