Default Inheriting an X300, northeastern US

Hello Jaguar folks.
I'm about to become the proud owner of a 1997 XJ6 (US spec: 4.0l, auto trans), with about 80k miles, left to me by my mother-in-law. I made some admiring comments about it back in the day promptly wrote it into her will. It's white with the tan interior. The car spent all of its life in Southern California. It's a proverbial little-old-lady car, only driven to the local shops etc - although my mother-in-law was anything but a proverbial little old lady. She kept it maintained by a local independent mechanic, and I have file of service receipts.

I'm in the Boston, Massachusetts area, and am a retired IT guy with a fondness for tinkering on mechanical things. I have renovated a couple old motorcycles as well as my elderly but functional yard equipment. I'm planning to do as much of my own maintenance and repair as I can, but have already lurked on the Northeastern regional forum for mechanic recommendations.

If all goes well, it'll be arriving here in early March. I'll post more over in the X300 forum when it gets here and I've had a chance to play with it.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, MIL was a special person. Among other things, she convinced my FIL, an absolute diehard buy-American Ford man, that he should buy her the XJ6. After all, Ford owned Jaguar (at the time), so it was just like buying another Ford brand like Lincoln or Mercury, right? :-). He agreed...

Welcome to the forums ThosMa,

Good to have you with us.

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/xj-xj6-xjr6-x300-26/ to the X300 forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. I can see you have already found the US Northeast Region forum so there's no need for a link from me.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums.

Welcome to the Forums.

The X300 is a simple car to maintain, and if you have "tinkered" with other machinery, this will be no different.

Good luck.
