Hi, I'm a new member. I live in Love Valley, North Carolina and purchased a 2005 Jaguar s type in March of 2019. I have been wanting a Jaguar since my teen years; I am now 73 years old and finally have one. I really like the S type styling.. I have one problem with this car. The remote door lock doesn't work on the driver side rear door. I can hear the motor cycling, but it doesn't move lock. Is this a cable attachment issue, or is the unit bad?
That was a very patient wait for your first Jaguar!
You are going to have to remove the door card to see exactly what is happening with the door latch and operating levers. This graphic from the Parts Catalogue shows the latch (item 6) and linkage rods (items 7 and 8) for the door handle and lock.
Could be a detached linkage or a failed microswitch in the latch.

From one S-type owner to another... Welcome. The S-type forum is populated with a very friendly group and contains a wealth of knowledge.
With that said, I would recommend that you get the issue sorted sooner as opposed to later; if the lock on a rear door stops functioning the access to effect repairs becomes extremely problematical to say the least!
