Welcome to the forums Shybal,

(I've merged your two separate Intro threads.)

I can see you've already found your way to the X308 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

Enjoy the forums and your rehabilitation challenge.

Graham

Default Fuel tank

opening up the vehicle, the first major challenge was the fuel tank filled with Water thereby causing rustiness beyond repairs, and damaged fuel pump, also beyond repairs. Please how do I get used tank at a cheap price?

At the present time it's going to be difficult. Sources on the African continent will be limited becausee of the low number of vehicles imported and vehicle breakers across Europe (where scrapped Jaguars are plentiful) are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic. I'd start with a look on ebay.

thanks for the feedback. I would also continue to look for an alternative here as I can not wait enough to have a drive around in my car given different positive reviews I have read up on it. Let's just hope I would be lucky to get a fuel tank soonest. Regards

The XJ8 is a great car. I had one and drove it across France and Spain to Barcelona. Here it is parked in the Old Port in Barcelona.

The car just glides along and eats up the miles.

Hope you can find a fuel tank soon. You are going to have to remove it anyway so it is worth seeing if it can be patched.

Wow, that was a distance covered. The tank i have down has been checked by different workmen and the conclusion was that the tank was not repairable.

Welcome. I know a guy who used a small plastic fuel tank intended for a boat accompanied by a separate electric fuel pump, but only for testing purposes of course. Good luck.

That's a shame. You must therefore be certain to source the identical tank. The parts catalogue lists several different tanks used for the X308 depending on engine size and VIN range.
