I always wanted a Jag but never had the opportunity to purchase one so I did the next best thing and bought one for my daughter. It was probably a bad choice for a first car but she shares my affinity for things that are not ordinary. We looked at a bunch of Hondas. Toyotas were also a no as were Kia, Mazda, Buick, ect... The only car that generated any interest at all was a Cadillac CTS until I showed her an S Type Jag. Now we have a 2005 S Type with a 4.2 NA. It has all the issues you'd expect from a 100k Jag that hasn't been as well maintained as it should have been. Climate control valve is quirky; climate controller is on it's way out too. It needs a thermostat housing assembly and has an exhaust leak that provides a lovely aroma inside while you're driving. There's a tick on the drivers side which I'm hoping is just a worn valve shim...haven't read up on that much. Even with all that going on, it's a great driver and that 4.2 has plenty of power to spare. We're going to do a preemptive strike on the known issues and hopefully deal with the surprise issues as they crop up.

Welcome to the forums Loganj,
Sounds like you'll be seeing more of the S-Type than your daughter will ........ until the issues are fixed then you'll probably only see it for the annual service.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues. Hello, Logan,
Congratulations to you and your daughter on her new S-type Jaguar!
She has Excellent taste! I fail to see why people Insist on having a car, the only way you know it's Yours is if it answers the fob! I see it all the time; people wandering around the parking lot dowsing for their cookie cutter on 4 wheels.
As she Likes it she'll take care of it once you get it roadworthy.
And then, Woe be unto the person who gets in without cleaning their shoes!
Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.
