intro, xjs owner
Hi everyone. Short intro:
I'm near London, Ontario. I'm not a mechanic but do much of the work myself with a lot of advice from more experienced people.
My first was a '69 Daimler V8 RHD auto OE White with Red interior, v.good driver condition, owned for 6 yrs and put on about 10,000km I think.
Second was 1995 XJ6 4.0 auto Titanium Blue, Nimbus innards. Just a basic Canadian-spec XJ6. Did 101,000km in three years, drove it 4 seasons. Found that I like Michelins.
MY current is a 1992 XJS 4.0 5-spd. Signal Red coupe. New to me this spring. To me it feels a lot lighter than it is.
My wish list for it includes a folding fabric sunroof which I will install myself.

Oh one other thing you need to put your car details in your signature. I am speaking of the Year, Make & Model. Without it you may not get the input you are looking for.
Please take a moment and read the information provided to you explaining the rules. Be patient and enjoy the site.

Thanks to all for the warm welcome. I've never been one to join groups and clubs but I think that is changing as I get older. Also, the people I meet in daily life don't care or know anything about cars.
Translator, no I don't miss the Daimler...honestly it made me feel like custodian rather than owner, so I sold it when at a time when I was unable to look after it properly. Also it was drastically underpowered for today's traffic and had me wishing for a manual 'box. Better to have loved and lost...
Still, I made a good effort to buy another this year. I think it's still listed on oldcartrader.com (California) as an "SP250", which it ain't. Looks like there may be good value there, so please buy it (someone who loves Jags).
The XJS never really got under my skin until '92 when an ad in a Cdn newspaper informed me that a 5-spd was available. I cut out that ad and still have it. The first manual Jag since the E-Type! I've only seen five for sale since then (four in Canada, one in Florida). Following my pithy adage that money is too valuable to save, I pounced when this signal red, low mileage (58K km, or 36K miles) one hit Kijiji last month.
If you have seen my thread "Not Enough Headroom" in the XJS forum, you know what the situation is now.
Next I'd like a VDP or XJ12 of the XJ40-X300 vintage to start filling out my "collection". Do you think we'll be allowed to drive gasoline-powered vehicles much longer?
