Default Introduction

Hello all

Firstly apologies that I posted on another forum before introducing myself...

I am hopeless with IT...ha ha 😆😆

I am a lover of all Jags, err... pre 2010...

Not a lover of diesels... putting a diesel in a Jaguar is just wrong sorry... and I am not keen on the styling in recent years, I think Jaguar has lost its uniqueness and USP styling wise, the XF looks like a Vauxhall Insignia, the current XJ looks like a lumpen poor mans Bentley Continental, and the F-Type just looks like a copy of a Ferrari California...

But hey... that is just my very humble opinion... what the hell do I know?? 😅😅😅

Anyway... I have a 1999 XKR Coupe in red with ivory leather that I have owned since 2009... it is my cherished pride and joy...

Obviously I am completely biased but I think the original XK8 and XKR mark 1's will become classics...

It has the original sought after 4.0 V8 with the Nikasil engine cylinder liners...

I was advised against buying it from all of the armchair experts... the reason being that the Nikasil was stripped by sulphur in cheap supermarket petrol in the 90s reacting with it.. AMG and BMW M engines suffered the same problem..

But why would you buy a 60 grand GT and put rubbish petrol in it ???

Anyway the sulphur problem has gone now and I have always used super unleaded since I got it in 2009... you would not feed Usain Bolt on fizzy drinks and greasy burgers? It is worth the extra 10p a litre...

I love all the older jags, obviously E type and XJS and love the S-type mark 2 and the mark X (east end of London gangster car 😅&#128517

In my humble opinion Jags get better with age... the XJS was thought of as very ugly when it replaced the E type but now if you look at a convertible one of those its....WOW gorgeous! 😀

I think also the XJR circa 2006 is a lovely pretty motor and a perfect family car... I am looking to buy one of those and you can pick a nice one up for around £5k or £6k these days in the UK...

Happy to have a chat with any fellow enthusiasts..

Best regards all

Steve "Smitty" Smith.

😀😀👍👍👍

Default Hello Graham

Hello Graham

Apologies for contacting you in the wrong way... but it was the only way I could find an administrator as I was advised to do so when I tried to alter my DOB on my profile.

I put my incorrect date of birth in as 1998 it should be 1965... the day and month are correct...

Could you change it for me please?

Sincere apologies for any inconvenience and thanks for your help...

I am hopeless with IT

Hello, Steve,
I SO agree with what you stated above!! And your comment about "Armchair Experts" who have probably never owned a Jag nor do they personally know anyone who has. Mostly I think they're just Jealous of our good taste in these Lovely cars and our diligence in keeping them on the road while they Languish in their beige Camrys..

I decided some time ago that my Next Jag would be an XK8 convertible.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Steve,

You've aged 33 years overnight.

DoB corrected.
