Default Introduction

Hello from western Arkansas, USA -- home of Indians/Cowboys western history, the beautiful for touring Ozark mountains area, and my first-ever Jaguar. It's a brand-new-to-me black/black 1999 XK8 Convertible with 147,000+ miles.

I took possession just two days ago and have already repaired my first "red light" issue... thankfully, it was just a matter of low coolant. However, I have many more time & money consuming issues to address such as a missing driver's side headlamp lens, a blown windshield rear view mirror, and 2 missing oval fender badges, to name but a few. I'm looking forward to learning more about finding parts, trading parts, compatible parts, aftermarket parts (there must be a few) and the other important things connected to vintage Jaguar life.

I've been "lurking" this forum for a few weeks now in preparation of receiving the Jaguar, and formally joined yesterday. Glad to be here.

Hello,
Congratulations on your First Jaguar, XK8 in BLACK!! (BLACK is my Favorite!)
And ya got a convertible to boot! I decided some time ago that my Next Jaguar would be one just like that.

Bearing in mind your car is now 25 years old, your description sounds like it was DRIVEN by one or more previous owners who didn't take proper care of the little things. Perhaps they got bored after a while and just let stuff slide. But that only means more time for the two of you to bond over grooming; you, the servant grooming the car, the master--or mistress, as the case may be.

Welcome to the forums from ElinorB.

Annnnnnnd I've just experienced my first battery failure. Now I know for certain -- I am a vintage Jaguar XK8 owner!
