Looking last 5 months to buy a jag. Which would be a less maintence car? Got 3 small kids so like the room of the XJ8 but do have other cars. I like performance of S type R but regular S types are so much cheaper. Am I rightfully scared of Jags with 65 k miles are more???? Looking at a 2006 S type with 22k for about $15k one owner. Or a 2005 XJ8 with 18k miles for 19K. I would only drive it about 8k miles per year. Any issues with 05, 06 07 to watch out for on either model? Thanx

Welcome to the forum,
What a wonderful dilemma - torn between which Jaguar model to buy.
Checking the FAQ's on both S-Type ( S-Type / S type R Supercharged V8 - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum ) and XJ8 ( XJ ( X350 & X358 ) XJ6 / XJ8 / XJR - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum ) sections will give you an idea of the issues members find with their vehicles.
No reason to worry about high mileage in Jaguars. If anything, little or rarely used examples can give more trouble.
Whichever your preference, service history is critical.
Enjoy the search.

Welcome to the discussion board!
Either/both. These are not high maintenance cars- just possibly more expensive to fix if something does go wrong. That's why most of us like the DIY aspect.
No, the dark days of the '70s and '80s are long gone. A 65K car is barely 'broken in'.
