Default jag newbie

howdy just purchased a 1982 jaguar xjs HE 2 door coupe this gem is in great shape but has sat for over 7 years the latch on the passenger door is jammed anybody want to help a newbie

I'll have a bash- is it open or closed? Can you move the handles? Or is it all stuck solid? If you can open it, I recommend starting with a shot of WD or your favorite penetrant directly on the latch mechanism. Work it by hand (or finger) until you feel it break looser. If this doesn't work then you'll need to remove the door panel and look inside. Lube the ends of all the rods where they pivot. I think it's probably just stuck from lack of use. Anyway, welcome. I hope you have good use of your new car.
