I've just joined and have a question for the other jag owners.
I have a 1985 XJ6 with 63,000 kilometers on it. I've had it for over 20 years and the car has been absolutely wonderful. It is in need of new tires as it has the original P5 205/70/VR15's with a 96T rating that came with the car. There's lots of thread left but there is plenty of cracking on the tires. I want to get something that will handle the weight of the car so that it handles as it should. I live in Toronto Canada so I need a tire that is available here.
The car never sees rain or snow and is only driven in the summer on nice days. Any suggestions as to a replacement.
Regards
Bill

Nowadays the selection of 205/70x15 or 215/70x15 performance tires is very small. Lots of guys have gone to a 225/60 or 215/65 tire, which broadens the selection.
For the proper steering feel you'll probably want the stiffness of a "V" or higher speed rating...even though the car isn't remotely capable of going fast enough to require them.
As for handling the weight of the car, that's easy. There are dozens of tires out there with a sufficient load rating.
Visit "The Tire Rack" on line. They have a search-by-size option, and then you can drill down to speed rating, etc.
Everyone has their favorites but on three Jags I've had great luck with BF Goodrich tires. BFG offers a wide selection of sizes, speed ratings, tread designs, etc.
Cheers

Hey Bill. Welcome. Fellow Canuck here. The size you are looking for is getting harder to find these days but I had a peek at TireRack and they've got Pirelli P4000s on there that should do the trick for you. I've bought a couple sets of tires from them and they are awesome. Delivered to me in Western Canada within a few days and they look after any duties, GST, provincial tire disposal fee, etc. All you have to be concerned with is the exchange. So, do some calculations from their site and compare locally. I have found them to still be more competitive than Kal Tire, etc. Good luck.
