I am an average-Joe working man living in the Houston/Galveston area of Texas. The only real "maintenance" I do is bring the car/truck in for oil changes, inspections, etc... All my cars have been domestic (Ford or Chevy) but I'm really thinking about buying a Jaguar X-Type for my wife. I see many 2003-2004 models (I'm avoiding 2002) for a very reasonable price, and most have around 55-60K miles.

What I want to know is...will the Jaguar X-Type provide me with the same trouble-free ownership that I have been fortunate enough to experience with my Fords/Chevys? Will regular oil changes and filter changes be all the maintenance I should expect to deal with?

Is a Jaguar X-Type right for my wife/me?

 

I am ONLY considering 2003-newer X-Types. My price range is around $10K cash, so there are fewer 2004 models to choose from, but if I can get a 2004...I'm going to.
