Joined a few months ago and am introducing myself.
Hi I am Jim Resseguie, I reside in Bakersfield California. If you are not familiar with Bakersfield it is about 120 miles north of Los Angeles in the San Joaquin Valley.
I am an old guy who spent years restoring old and classic cars, but now in my old age have given up on restoring and now just love to tinker and maintain. For this reason I purchased a low mileage (51,000 when purchased) 2004 Jaguar XKR roadster.
In my opinion it is a modern day classic and with the low production numbers of Jaguar it stands a good chance of becoming a collector car. My XKR is quartz metallic, black top, with a dove interior. I love the car as it handles like a dream and with the top up you never would know you were in a convertible.
Plus it is great to have air conditioning here in the valley. I found the forum while learning about the car and trying to learn what should be done to maintain it properly. My first experience was when I developed a chirp in the transmission when it shifted under a load.
Based on the information I obtained here I had my mechanic service the transmission and put an end to the problem. The next was the pulling of the antenna fuse, doing away with the huge antenna. I plan on putting in a under the hood (12v boosted) antenna, though I mainly use the CD player and the cassette adapter to play my iPod.
The last help I got here was the cable fix for the power head rest. I will probably will be making use of the memory steering control fix as mine is giving me intermittent problems.
It may sound like I have had quite a few problems, but what I have had are only minor, like another member reported he was picky and wanted everything to work properly. Like him I am picky too and feel if you keep up with the little things you can often avoid the big thing.
Thanks to all the guys that post great help here, it is really appreciated by we newbies.

Welcome to the forum Jimincalif,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
I can see you've found your way to the XK8/XKR tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the USA Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/western-us-ak-ca-nv-ut-hi-wa-id-38/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
