Welcome, I am a new member as well & just bought my first Jaguar. I would try and keep the car as original as possible. I spoke to the dealer about mine and the told me it's good to try and keep all numbers matching the vin on the car!

Hi,

Welcome to the Forum mate.

Lived in NZ back in the 70's and now in Oz but still have family in Auckland.

I have owned 3 v12's so far (84 XJS 5.3, 87 Sovereign 5.3, 94 XJ12 6.0 (still have)). They are the best engine ever made and will give years of enjoyment if looked after. I know there is the excitement of extracting more power from these engines and this can be easily done but first (IMO) you need to just keep it running in original peak condition if you can and work from there. If you don't do this be prepared to be eaten out of house and home just to drive it to the milk bar at Royal Oak.

cheers

Eddie

Hey, I just bought the XJ6. I understood the power thing. However, I used the "Sport" button on my car for the first time yesterday and was pleasantly surprised at the added power.
Have you posted pictures? Hows the car? Is it really clean or do you need to do any body work etc to it?
I need to do the back tire well, and I have a couple spots of clean coat that need to be touched up. Nothing major. Other than that mines pretty clean. I am going to be doing a tune up and stuff soon. I am trying to figure out what to do to make it purr a little more like the newer models. I love that European sound in the cats!

aw nice what year xj6? yea the v12 does have plenty of power but i am a male lol so am wanting a hole lot more =) my series 1 is pretty tidy. paint is beautifull and the interior is perfect apart from 2 cracks on the dash. ive tryed uploading pics but aparentley i havent posted enough comment or somethink. the only thing that i need to do is at the back under the exhaust is a tiny bit of rust that will need attending to but no major so should be cheap. i got it off a car dealer so it looks brand new. 1st thing im going to do is put some aftermarket exhaust on it. 1s on it now are so quiet and dusnt give it that v12 hum lol

I have a 96 XJ6. Yeah, the V12 is pretty sweet. I hear ya I am looking at a little more power and performance too. I've been looking at new exhaust for mine. I want that more European purr from the car. Hey, I found this site and they seem to have performance parts and stuff for the car a lot cheaper than everywhere else I've found. . . I'll post the link below.
Jaguar XJ12 Performance Parts and Accessories for Jaguar XJ12

This is the sound I'm looking to get out of my car. . . Just trying to figure out what I need? New exhaust? XJR exhaust? or what?!?!

Hope you have a large well-filled wallet, as the early V12s with carburettors do about 10 mpg, (12 if you're lucky !).

Live life & enjoy you're car. I'm 26 & live my XJ6. It doesn't have the best gas milage either.
Yeah, it is a bit quiet. In looking at putting the XJR spots exhaust on it. That and changing the air in take on it will help the gas milage. Have you thought about changing tht? Oh, and there are new plugs E something that will improve milage as well!
