Hello all
Just joined, been looking at the site for months and its great but unfortunately the circumstances of me joining are to be honest because i have a problem.
I have a Jaguar x type diesel, 2.0 litre. Its a 2006 and has only covered 48k.
I purchased the car two years ago from a Jaguar dealer.
Problems started at 32k, car kept cutting out, took it back and was told it needed four new injectors, it was under warranty so that was ok.
Since it had the new injectors it has always smoked heavily. During the last service at the same dealers i mentioned the smoke and was told it was normal, at this time the injector repair was still in warranty.
Here is the problem, at 46k and just out of the injector warranty the car started hesitating and running rough during this time it was still heavily smoking.
Last week i took it back to the dealer and argued that it could be the injectors and that i would like them examined and that i would not be paying if the injectors were found to be faulty due to the fact that i had previously highlighted the smoking problem whilst the injectors were in warranty.
Today i called for an update, they said that they had taken out the injectors sent them back to the supplier for examination, three of the injectors were found to require an overhaul and the other was not working at all. I was then told that the report concluded that the injectors had been subjected to petrol contamination and that i had to pay for the works.
I am an honest person and would not put myself out to get work done for free, and i can honestly say i have never put petrol in that car, and it has always smoked since the day the supposed new ones were put in.
Not sure if i am asking for help here but this has baffled and annoyed me.
Does anyone know of anything that could possibly give this result or am i being given the round around.
Thanks all
Darren

Welcome to the forum Darren,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Sorry to hear about your problems. I've copied your question to X-Type tech forum for advice from members with the same model. Here's the direct link to it:

It sounds like you already know your way to the main X-Type tech forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link UK & Eire - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
