Default Just the opposite if cold !!

hello Jaguar forums !!
I own a 2000 jag 6 cylinder S-type 3.0 , & last week my a/c wouldn't
blow out cool air. so i changed the compressor & serpentine belt & put in 1/2 can of R-134a refrigerant but it wouldn't take anymore is this because the clutch wasn't engaging on the compressor? i had the jag running with the a/c on high while doing this ! what step should i take next ?? the coolant valve , heater valve?

Hi Tradition, it could be a number of issues. When you say it was blowing warm, was that all the way across the dash, or just one side of the dash? This would indicate a faulty heater control vavle. Providing that when you put the Freon in, there are no leaks? Evap cores on these were quite common to go out, specially in the south.

Since the compressor isn't engaging, have you checked the fuse and relay for the compressor? Seen a few relays go. Also the EVAP temp sensor could be shorted, which would also cause the compressor not to engage. Check relay #8 in the engine compartment junction box. Also check Fuse #11 - 15a - in the engine compartment junction box as well. If all good, try swapping the relay with #6 relay which is for the horn. Let us know what happens

Welcome to the forum tradition,

Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.

The first thought with the AC not blowing cold is a refrigerant leak. Why did you jump immediately to a compressor change?

Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information.
The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.

Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.

You can also visit the US Western Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/us-western-38/
to find other members in your region.

Enjoy the forums.
