Welcome to Jaguar Forums Theresa1260,
Good to have you with us.
You should be able to get a key overnight. Did they say why the key lost it's programming? It's always good to have a spare key but hopefully they have found the fault.
Price can vary considerably you would be best to ask them for an estimate.
Enjoy the forum.
If you haven't done so already you should add your car details to your signature to help others to help you.

Welcome to the forum Theresa,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
When I order parts from my Jaguar Dealer before 2:00 pm, they are available the next day after 11:00 am. If you have taken the car to a Jaguar Dealer (Inchcape Jaguar in Chester or Hatfields Jaguar in Liverpool are probably the closest.....?), you can expect a similar service. If you have used an independent garage, they may have a little more difficulty obtaining a replacement key without proof of ownership.
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/s...ed-v8-x200-15/ to the S-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the UK & Eire Region forum by following this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/uk-eire-68/ to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.

From one S-type owner to another... Welcome. A replacement key may take longer than "off the shelf" parts as there is human intervention involved, i.e., cutting the key to the code on file for the car. I would press the repair shop to follow up with the supplying dealer, or call a UK dealer's spare parts department and pose the question to them directly.
