Keys to success
Dear All,
Maybe you can help me. I've recently purchased a 2003 X-Type. The car came with 2 key fobs. One fob worked, the other fob did not. I bought a "repair kit" to replace the rubber touch pads, with the faded symbols to lock, unlock, unlock the trunk, and flash the lights. The kit also contained fresh batteries, which I installed in the dead fob. The dead fob still refuses to transmit the commands to the car. I've tried to program the dead fob (ignition on-off 4 times), but the car would not go into programming mode. This worked properly for my already-operating fob.
Try another battery in the dead fob, and try again? The key on the dead fob will start the car just fine. I didn't think it should start up.
Buy another fob?
Thank you.

Welcome to the forum Mike,
Good to have you with us at Jaguar forums.
Check the second fob is an exact match for the working one. The vendor could have acquired a non compatible fob as a replacement. Any fob looks better than none to a potential buyer!
Follow this link https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x-type-x400-14/ to the X-Type forum for help, advice and information. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for info on regular issues.
Please remember to add vehicle details to your Signature to help others to give relevant advice. Go to the User CP button on the left of the top menu bar, then Settings & Options under Your Control Panel. Select Edit Signature and enter the details.
You can also visit the US Northeast Region forum by following this link US Northeast - Jaguar Forums - Jaguar Enthusiasts Forum to find other members in your region.
Enjoy the forums.
