A little late, but hello from Louisiana
Hello, my name is Mark (aka: Gottabekidding).
The day before Thanksgiving I purchased a 1995 XJ6. I introduced myself in the X-300 section, but not here.
The car looks really good but is far from perfect. The more I investigate, the more I find.
I have restored cars before and still have a couple to finish up. This will be my daily driver.
I do have other vehicles to drive when the occasional "more than one day project" occurs.
The car is a XJ6 in Topaz Mist with a french vanilla color interior. It was last driven in 2015!
For a 29-year-old car with just 91K on it - it's not bad.
the A/C needs repair, headliner recovered, a minor oil leak - little things here or there.
it is missing some parts that a body shop thought not important enough to replace or they could not obtain them.
The scavenger hunt is on.
I have a growing distain for newer cars.
Friends that work at different dealerships talk about the stuff that is wrong with brand new vehicles.
So, I am going backwards. Start with a quality car from back when, if it is still running today - that says something.
I find forums a wealth of knowledge, due to the fact that I do most the work myself.
I may jinx myself now, but this car can't be worse than an old Corvette.
Again, hello this is me.

Hello, Mike,
Congratulations on your "new" Jaguar!
91000 miles is just now well broken in and loosened up! You might get another 200k with proper care and feeding.
Many of us here totally agree with you, New Cars Pretty Much Suck.Pond Water.
And, if it's still running well after nearly 30 years, then it must have been pretty good to begin with.
That's why the "newest" thing I own is a 2003 Subaru Baja that just turned over 230,000 miles!
Welcome (officially) to the forums from ElinorB.

Welcome to the forums Mark,
Good to have you with us.
You've chosen the most reliable of the modern Jaguar models. I took my X300 to over 150K miles with very few issues. I can see you've already found your way to the X300 forum so there's no need for a link to it from me. The 'HOW TO' thread at the top is a good place to start for information on regular issues.
Please read the guidance for new members ( https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/n...ned-up-241802/ ) which answers many of the most frequent questions about getting started.
Enjoy the forums.
Graham
